MAN OF THE MATCHNINETEENTH WIN OF THE SEASON KEEPS THE CHERRIES IN SECOND SPOT | Anton Robinson's first strike at the Fitness First seals a well-deserved three points.
Eddie Howe had to once again make the best of what he had available after Pearce was ruled out. Bartley slotted in at central defence and McQuoid and Connel were both drafted into midfield. The home side were quick into the game and it wasn't long before the hosts had their first chance. Connell headed wide from close range after a couple of minutes. The home supporters didn't have to wait long for the opener, in the 18th minute Anton Robinson was one hand to slot home as the visitors could not clear the ball. Josh McQuiod had a great opportunity to double the lead as he was sent clear on the right, but he only managed to put his shot just wide of the far post.
HALF TIME 1-0As expected the visitors came more into the game in the second half but Morecambe had thier goalkeeper to thank as he palmed away a rasping McQuoid volley that looked destined for the net. The Cherries created little in the way of clear cut chances until late on when Brett Pitman had a strike ruled out for offside. The visitors looked likely to score wasting a couple of good chances, hitting the outside of the post late on. A workmanlike performance from the Cherries ensured that got what they deserved, just about. Hopefully, a few more bodies will be back for the crucial clash coming up at Notts County. Brett Pitman to scrore a hat-trick :)
