6 THINGS WE LEARNT FROM #BORO v #AFCB

01. PAUL MERSON DOESN’T KNOW WHAT THE F**K HE IS TALKING ABOUT
Just for a moment we were starting to believe in Paul Merson’s predictions. He was getting it right more than he was getting it wrong. But, once again he has let us down. He was seeing what we were seeing week after week and realising that AFC Bournemouth do belong in the Premier League. But as soon as he started predicted a win for us it started to go wrong again. We know we should ignore anything he says, but we couldn’t resist. Not sure who the biggest fool is, him or us.

02. BENIK AFOBE IS STARTING TO LOOK LIKE A STRIKER
Callum Wilson is our number one striker, but when he’s not on his game and things aren’t quite working on the day a back-up is needed. Benik Afobe has been slowly working his way back into the team. He has been making regular appearances from the bench and looks to be getting back to his best. He is starting to look like a viable alternative to Wilson. Maybe Eddie will go gung-ho and play him and Wilson up front. It might just work.

03. STEVE COOK ISN’T READY FOR ENGLAND…YET
Steve Cook is a strong contender, the strongest AFCB contender in our opinion, for an England call-up. But, with the England manager watching he didn’t have a game to impress. He is good enough to get in the England squad, the first XI we are not so sure. There are a few who play for England who seem to have an off day every time they play, so give him a call-up Mr Southgate (just imagine he’s wearing a Man U shirt), he’s no worse than Chris Smalling.

04. BORO BETTER THAN BOURNEMOUTH
Before kick-off we at TFTSE Towers were confident that we would get something from the game. The last few performances had seen a turnaround with some outstanding football. But once past the Midlands AFC Bournemouth seem to forget what to do. We had our chances early on but it seems they make the goals just that little bit smaller in Middlesboro. Had we taken the lead then the game would have been ours. We move on swiftly to the next game where we can get back to normal.

05. SURELY IT’S ALL SURMAN’S FAULT
Andrew Surman has his haters (we’re not one of them) and after pulling out ill last week there was the suggestion that he was not needed. Back to this week and he was all better and ready to go. Unfortunately, only for 79 minutes where he went off injured and left the Cherries with ten men with a two-goal deficit to contend with. Let’s hope he’s not out for too long, we need him, though some don’t believe.

06. IS HARRY ARTER ENGLISH?
Gareth Southgate was at the second AFC Bournemouth game in succession. All those Englishmen to choose from, lucky him. He didn’t have to sit next to Jeff Mostyn either, but still no smile. So it wasn’t Jeff that was upsetting him then. The Cherries English contingent didn’t have their best game but again we were sure we saw Gareth Southgate ask the bloke next him ‘I know I asked last week, but I just want to make sure, Is Harry Arter English? He’d help us win the World Cup in 2018’ First time I saw him smile.
