Name: James Musselwhite
Match count: 500+
AFCB since: 1985
Seat: East/North Stand
What was the first match you attended and how old were you?
24th August 1985, Afcb 5 v 0 Bristol City. Worst thing that could’ve happened to a 7 year old.
Who would be your first inductee into the Cherries Hall of Fame?
Steve Fletcher is AFCB. Thanks to his 2nd spell with the club he has surpassed MacDougall as the club legend.
Who would complete your Top 3 AFCB legends and why?
Ian Bishop. The best footballer to put on a cherries shirt.
Sean O’Driscoll. Promotion winner, international footballer, manager and has had pretty much every job going at the club.
Paul Morrell. A wing back before wing backs were cool.
The most memorable match seen at Dean Court?
AFCB 3 V 1 Middlesborough 1987, amazing atmosphere, and the night where we started to believe that we might just win promotion. (Closely followed by AFCB 2 v 3 Walsall Auto Windscreens semi final, total Rollercoaster of a game. Evening kick offs are the best)
Best ever goal seen at Dean Court?
Paul Moulden’s chip v Newcastle.
Favourite ever kit?
I love the 3rd kit for this season….but i think I’m the only one. TFTSE: Your not the only one we love it as well
The best manager to have sat in the AFC Bournemouth hot seat?
Redknapp, for sheer achievements….. hell, the guy’s favourite to be the next England boss, and he used to manage our little club!
The best player to have come on loan to Dean Court?
Defoe, I’ve never seen a better finisher.
Worst player to have ever graced the lush green grass at Dean Court?
McAnespie, looked like a deer in the headlights anytime the ball came near him.
Funniest or most ridiculous moment at Dean Court?
Jimmy Quinn’s post match interview after another home defeat where he stated “I can’t understand how we haven’t scored, we put in over 30 crosses into their box. . . . . “. Oh really…. oh good…. so this is the mastermind behind our club? Great. Season Ticket? Yeah I’ll have 8 please!
If your old enough to remember, The South End or The North Stand?
The South End.
Who in your opinion is the best player in the current Cherries squad?
Pugh. Skillful, direct, with an eye for goal.
What are your thoughts on the current chairman?
Haters Gonna Hate. The man was brought in to balance the books. He has done that and more. He’s a PR nightmare gone bad, but he’s exactly what the club needed at the time he took over, and people shouldn’t underestimate that. The problem with the internet, and the way football has changed in recent years, is people live in a bubble of Hyperbole. We were spoilt rotten under Eddie Howe, and this season, a sizeable section of fans think we became Barcelona overnight, and Mitchell denied us the chance of champions league football in 2 years, which is nonsense. It’s obvious Howe built a very close, personal team around his management style, and when he left, and after the season was over, those players wanted to move on, and frankly, we got some good money for most of them. I believe in his philosophy of building a club, just like any business, from the bottom up, and it will stand us in good stead for the future.
Where do you see the club in five years time?
My heart Bradbury to be a success, for him to have built a strong team, and to have achieved potentially promotion to the Championship. My head says we’ll have an old head in charge of the team, who will have achieved the same. Either way Fletch’ll still be around.
If you won the EuroMillions how would you invest the cash in AFC Bournemouth?
I don’t think I would. I wouldn’t wish being a football chairman on anyone, only a few have really pulled it off with any degree of success on all levels. I’d of course invest in the club in terms of Hospitality, and family fun days and ideas to generate interest, and potentially, you;d have to look at buying the ground back…. but that’d be my limit i think.
Who is/are the opponent/opponents that you can’t stand the sight of?
Bloody Reading. Lee Hughes.
A BIG THANKS to @y2jimbob for his contribution
