FA CUP: Dreams of 1957

By -

Before we get started no we are not old enough to remember the Cherries best ever cup run, we may be old but we weren’t even born when the Cherries eventually got knocked out in the sixth round.

The 1957 FA CUP run of Cox’s Pippins saw the Cherries beat Accrington Stanley, Swindon Town and Burton Albion in the early rounds. The fourth round saw the Cherries win away at First Division Wolves 1-0. This victory was followed up by a superb fifth round 3-1 win against Tottenham, with AFC Bournemouth being awarded the ‘Giant Killers Cup’ for their amazing run. The sixth round saw Manchester United visit Dean Court, who ended the Cherries cup run with a 2-1 win in front of a record crowd of 28,799.

To put this unbelieveable cup run into perspective this is equivalent to the current squad beating Man Utd and Chelsea before losing at home to Man City.
