DARLINGTON 0 AFC BOURNEMOUTH 2: Pitman double keeps Cherries clear at top

By -

AND BRETT MAKES TWO | Cherries leading marksmen took his tally to five for the season with an acrobatic volley and perfectly placed penalty to give the Cherries all three points.

The Cherries made a positive start in this top vs bottom clash and it wasn’t long before Brett Pitman acrobatically put the visitors in front. A long throw from Feeney was nodded on by Bradbury leaving Pitman in plenty of space to volley home. The hosts finally woke up and created a few half chances before Pitman shot just wide as half-time approached.

HALF TIME 1-0.

Cherries favourite Dean Windass was brought on for the second half and came closet to levelling the scores. A cross from the left came all the way to Windass at the far post but he couldn’t manage to to get his boot on the home side’s best chance so far. Late on as the home side pushed forward Anton Robinson made the break and what looked likely to be number two. However, a Darlington defender went to ground and decided to give the goalkeeper a helping hand. Brett Pitman strode up to tuckaway the penalty and put the score beyond doubt.

GOALS: Pitman 15, 83
