Wes Thomas: 16 seconds to score

CHERRIES leading marksmen Wes Thomas talking to official AFCB site about his super-quick goal at Colchester away, “It’s the quickest goal I’ve ever scored. It was just an instinct goal, I took a touch and just banged it in! I don’t know why I have now got five goals away and none at home, it’s just how it’s been, but hopefully in the next home game against Scunthorpe I can put that to bed.

I love to score goals whether it’s the first or last minute, and to get one so early gave everyone a real buzz and we dominated the early stages after that. Overall we are disappointed because we were ahead for the majority of the game. Their goal wasn’t a worldy or anything, it was really scrappy and we felt we were good enough for the three points.

Once again away from home we have proved what a hard team we are to beat. We were the better team once again and they didn’t really cause us many problems. We had a few other chances and we should have been two or three up, but we know if we continue to play like that, more points will come.

It’s now onwards and upwards to Preston and we have proved that we are good enough to compete with any team in this league and we will go there with confidence.”
