Last minute eqauliser denies Cherries all three points

FOOTBALL LEAGUE ONE | Saturday 5th February 2011
Goals: Symes 39 | Attendance: 6717

Lee Bradbury was denied his third straight win by a last minute goal from Dean Cox. The game kicked-off at a frenetic pace with both sides looking for an opening and it was Micheal Symes who came up trumps in the 39th minute outmuscling two defenders to perfecftly place his shot into the bottom corner.

The Bournemouth boss told Radio Solent, “We had our chances to win. I thought we may have gone on to get another one. “Their goal was a sucker punch. It’s hard to take when you’re on the receiving end.
“I’ll pick the lads up and we’ve got a couple of big games coming up now.”

He also said that the draw felt like a defeat, “The atmosphere in the dressing room feels like we’ve lost. To concede a late goal like that was very disappointing, especially as we’d wasted a great chance to wrap it up just before they equalised. “It has taken a lucky goal to stop us and the fact their goalkeeper was man-of-the-match says it all.”

As you might expect the O’s boss, Russell Slade,  had a different view of the  game saying, “I thought we carved them open. There were one or two nice openings in the second period. “We had greater control of the ball in the second half but we didn’t punish them.”

The recently returned striker still looks a little short of match fitness, but still has an eye for goal. His first half strike was perfectly placed and his all-round contribution only helped to bring his team-mates into play. We are sure there is still much more to come when fully fit.
