AFC BOURNEMOUTH: 4 players we should sign from Sunderland, Newcastle and Villa

By -

Everyone can have a poor season (or a very good one, look at Leicester). But that doesn’t mean that every player in the team is crap.

All the relegation candidates have some very good players, players who won’t want to play in the Championship. Here we pick four players that we think Eddie Howe should consider to make AFC Bournemouth a better team.

Current team: Sunderland | Estimated cost: £4.5m

Any team has room for a new striker who can score goals. Jermain Defoe would be a great addition to the squad and we think he has at least one good season left in him.
Stick him in a team that creates chances and he will score.

WHO COULD HE REPLACE: Tokelo Rantie, Lewis Grabban, Glenn Murray

Current team: Newcastle | Estimated cost: £2.5m

It’s no secret that we have let in a few goals this season. The only teams with a worse goal difference are Newcastle, Norwich and Aston Villa and we know where they are heading. We need to tighten up defensively and Lascelles is young, English and talented. He has shown in the recent games he has what is takes to play in the Premier League and would tighten up our defence

WHO COULD HE REPLACE?: Sylvain Distin, Tommy Elphick

Current team: Newcastle | Estimated cost: £7m

Fast pacy wingers are always in an Eddie Howe team and the ex-Spurs man is starting to show the form that got him an England call-up. If the Toon go down he will be looking to stay in the Premier League and he would add a touch of international class and skill on the wing

WHO COULD HE REPLACE?: Marc Pugh, Matt Ritchie

Current team: Aston Villa | Estimated cost: £3m

The Ireland international is a strong central defender who simply hasn’t produced the goods this season. This hasn’t been helped by the players around him or the squad attitude. But, a change of scenery and positive thinking and he could become an indispensable member of the squad.
