Before I continue I would just like to say my thoughts on the Man U game were not blurred by alcohol. Rarely I have I been angry at just about everything, but I was against Man Utd. The manager, the players, the officials and the media all got me shouting a few obscenities.
Even before kick-off I thought Eddie Howe had made the wrong choice in personnel and formation (it’s happen you know). I couldn’t understand why he started with a back three (that was sort of a back five). Well I can, but Ibe can’t defend and Rico was pretty poor once again. Why didn’t Mings start in a back four, I think this would have given us more defensive stability.
Ibe is no defender from what I have seen so why play him in that position. And it proved to be a poor choice. Did Rico make a tackle? I think he did in the second half but it was too late then. So to the rest in double quick time. Begovic OK, Cook and Ake better in a back four, Stanislas was poor, Surman was calm and composed, King distinctly average with a couple of good opportunities, Wilson got no service, Brooks was brilliant yet again.
WHY DIDN’T FRASER OR LERMA START?
Surprised to see Fraser and Lerma on the bench, two of our better performers in recent games. I know Lerma is one yellow away from a ban, so is that strategic thinking from Howe? Keep him available for the Watford game at home where we have more chance of winning? Leaving Fraser out meant we had less of an attacking threat. He should have started ahead of any of Ibe, Stanislas, Rico or King.
WHAT! DAVID BROOKS
David Brooks was our AFCB MOTM. He was the only player with any real conviction in this play and was excellent throughout. So what did Eddie Howe do? Take him off and leave Ibe, Stanislas and Rico on the pitch. Not sure why, perhaps saving him for the Watford game as well.
WE ALWAYS GET SHIT REFS (& OFFICIALS)
Right that’s the manager and players sorted, now onto the officials. We have said it many times, you need the officials to be on top of their game to have hope when playing away to ‘better’ teams, and they weren’t. And, not exactly the first time this season either.
Apparently, decisions even itself out over the season, just doesn’t seem that way currently. Guess we have stored them up for later in the season. Charlie Daniels getting flattened by Bailly’s boot should have been a penalty. Imagine if it had been the other way round. Lukaku was offside and it was hardly marginal. It wouldn’t have made any difference to the score but it will to our goal difference which might decide where we finish this season. And, it’s decisions like this that the linesman should be getting right.
Finally, a quick mention to the f*cking experts and pundits. I watched the Sky Sports analysis. Why did I bother? F*cking pathetic, the bias made it mind-numbingly dull. Why do I pay for this sh*t (I don’t :-). Surely MOTD would give us a little more air time. Guess you have seen that.
We will have better days than this and we look forward to Watford and a return to winning (getting a result) ways. Thank you for reading and listening to my ranting. Back to the beer I think.
