BRETT PITMAN: Best ever AFC Bournemouth goals

By -

The departure of Brett Pitman for the second time in his AFC Bournemouth career, while almost inevitable, is still a sad day.

He is without doubt one of the most talented goalscorers to have graced an AFC Bournemouth shirt. It was his 28 goals back in 2009 that went a very long way to kicking off the promotion party. We have his autograph on a flag somewhere.

After his hat-trick against Peterborough he was off to Bristol City for an alleged £1 million. We needed the money and he needed a higher level of football. He couldn’t stay away and he was back at the end of 2012 and carried on his impressive goalscoring form.

After promotion to the Championship he struggled to get in the side regularly but has still proved vital to the team. Remember his header off the line against QPR to ensure we got all 3 points.

While Brett may not have been an integral part of the Championship winning season he is without doubt one of the very reasons we even got the opportunity. Without him it may have never happened and for that very reason he will always be one of ours.

Here we choose what we class as his three greatest ever AFC Bournemouth goals. In fact, one is quite possibly the best ever AFC Bournemouth goal we have seen.

Saturday 26th September 2009 – GOAL 86
Not sure if words do this goal justice just watch it over and over and over again. We never tire of watching this and it still makes the hairs on the neck stand up.

Tuesday 10th March 2009 – GOAL 59
A crucial and mesmerising gaol that went a long way to keeping us in the Football League. He ran and ran and ran from his own half to slot home a goal that beat Messi on Sky Sports Goal of the Week. Watch and weep Lionel.

Friday 6th March 2015 – GOAL 61
Once again Brett came into the team and scored goals. Picking up the ball in his own half he ran, shimmied and bamboozled the home defence before placing perfectly past the keeper
