The ‘Stumpy’ one, ‘Tiny’, ‘Shorty’ are all names that I have heard the very professional Daryll Flahavan called. With him back in the side we can once again ignite the debate that he is too short for a goalkeeper.

It would seem after a very long spell out of the game, he is still as crap as he ever was, that’s sarcasm for those who couldn’t spot it. A penalty save is not a bad way to announce yourself back in the team. I’m sure he will still have his doubters, in fact I know he will but we are not one of them.

We said in our ‘Who should stay and who should go post’ that ‘The ‘tiny’ goalkeeper has got a lot of stick for being short and at 5’11” he is not big for a goalkeeper, but he has been consistent and hardly lets in a shed load of goals every time he takes to the pitch. If he was 6’ 3” and performed the same as he has all season, the same points about his ability would still apply.

The debate that raged when he was last in the team was he better than Jalal. The answer to that has been resolved. Flavahan is still in the Championship while Jalal is now living it up in League Two with Oxford United.

So we say welcome back Mr Flahavan, and lets hope you prove the doubters wrong.
