TORQUAY 1 AFC BOURNEMOUTH 2: Supa strikes late on to keep Cherries second

By -

SUPA SENDS CHERRIES SECOND | Steve Fletcher’s first goal of the season handed the Cherries their fifth win in six to go second. Eddie Howe handed Connell his first league start with Bradbury back on defensive duty.
Brett Pitman got in an early long range strike but failed to test the keeper. Chances were few and far between with Garry knocking a header wide. The host’s had the better of the first half, but a combination of resolute Cherries defending and woeful finishing saw the sides go in even at half time.

HALF TIME 0-0.

The second half was only four minutes old when Brett Pitman doubled his tally for the season with a neat header from Feeney’s cross. It was Pitman again who was on target as the hosts cleared off the line from his corner. However, it was the hosts who levelled the scores with a neat header very simiar to the Cherries opener, just past the hour mark.

Guyett thought he had given the Cherries lead, but his effort was disallowed for an alleged foul. With the game heading for a draw, Supa popped up in the box to out jump a Torquay defender and nod home what proved to the winner.

GOALS: Pitman 49, Fletcher 87

MAN OF THE MATCH: Steve Fletcher | Simply because he is ‘Supa’. Once again the great man steps up and scores yet another vital goal to give the Cherries all three points.
