A 2-0 victory sees the Cherries out of the relegation zone

The Cherries finally said goodbye to the League Two relegation zone with a hard fought victory over Aldershot at a windy and rain sodden Dean Court.

With the wind and rain driving towards the Bournemouth goal the Cherries struggled to get the ball past the half way line on numerous occassions. However, with the half hour mark approaching Danny Hollands stepped up and planted a punched shot from Shots keeper into the back of the net.

The conditions improved in the second half as did the scoreline for the Cherries. Bournemouth legend Steve Fletcher nodded home a Cummings cross in the 56th minute to score his first of his second coming. The Cherries pressed forward looking for a third that never looked like happening until substitute Marvin Bartley burst through late on, but he couldn’t apply the desired finish.

Brett Pitman made way for Lee Bradbury very late on for a cameo appearance. Three points and news that Grimsby had lost 1-0 made for the perfect end to a great evening’s football.
