The arrival of Birmingham City sees striker Wes Thomas reunited with one of the many teams that he decided were a better option for his goalscoring talents than AFC Bournemouth.

Thomas started his Cherries career on a high scoring on his away debut and scoring in his very next game. He went on to score 11 goals in 38 appearances in the 2011/12 season. The new season proved not to be quite so productive. After 4 games without a goal and a run of over 20 he made his way to local rivals Portsmouth. After 7 games and 3 goals he was recalled for a single match before he followed his old manager Micheal Appleton to Blackpool. A higher division is where he believed he belonged.

He wanted away from the Cherries and was looking to move, but he was hardly prolific in the League One, let alone the Championship. His quest to leave Bournemouth continued as he found the only manager who wanted him at Birmingham. His spell under Lee Clark saw 3 goals in 11 appearances and another return AFC Bournemouth.

Anyone see a pattern emerging here. No-one wants Wes Thomas.

He thought he was good for us when we were in League One. He wanted to a play at a higher level and made it quite clear he wanted to go, but no takers. There is no doubt that if anyone had wanted him he would have been sold.

Now we are in the Championship, how has his season been going? Not so well? Why, with Rantie, Grabban and Pitman in front of him in the pecking order the only way he will get a game is through injury.

He told the Daily Echo; “I don’t think I have really shown what I can do since I came back but competition for places has been tough. “First and foremost, my aim is to get back into the team and once that happens I am sure people will start seeing the best in me.

We cant forgive his blatant desire to leave, but more importantly we simply don’t think he is up to the task. Better strikers than him have struggled this season, and we cannot see him getting ahead of any of the current crop on offer.

We think its time for him to go, that’s if anybody wants him.
