Only two weeks to go, only two weeks until the new Premier League season kicks off, only two weeks until we see the mighty AFC Bournemouth play Sheffield Utd. Will it be only two weeks until we get to see the new signings take to the green green grass of Dean Court?
We are excited. Excited to see the new boys and excited to see who gets in the team. But, who is going to make the 2019/20 season their’s? Who is going to step up to the plate and show what they can do? Who is going to slip in under the radar and surprise us?
Gazing into the future and putting it in writing could be construed as stupid, but it’s what we all love to do. We all have hopes, and we all have opinions, so here’s ours.
THE LEFT AND RIGHT CONUNDRUM
Is Mark Travers going to be given the opportunity to show his worth? We think this season is too soon for both him and Ramsdale, but when we are writing ‘Who will shine in the 2020/2021 season?’ things could be very different.
If all fit Ake and Cook will start and shine in central defence, but it is left back and right back where we especially need to strengthen. Adam Smith is the key here. He can play right back and left back but we’re sure it will be left back. So this leaves Kelly, Daniels and Rico all vying to take his place. Can Daniels recapture his old form? Can Rico finally come good? Or, is it time for Kelly to shine?
This leaves a straight shoot out for right back between Francis and Stacey. Francis would seem like the obvious choice here, mainly due to his experience, but Jack Stacey looks good. We are going to stick our neck out here and say Jack Stacey is going to be a star on the right. Not quite sure why, but he just looks the part and looks ready to take on the challenge. We think he will be the right-back we have been looking for and prove to be an absolute bargain.
A TASTY MIDFIELD
The Cherries midfield looks set to be strengthened by the arrival of Phillip Billing. Yes we like him. We think this season will see Lerma and Cook step up another gear and prove a formidable midfield force along with Billing. It could finally be the time to move Surman and Gosling to the bench. Elsewhere can Brooks and Fraser recreate their form from last season? Of course they can. Two more shining stars.
And finally up front. We still have the shining star called Callum Wilson and his capable accomplice Josh King. Expect them to get better and better. But, we have another England striker in the shape of Dominic Solanke who looks ready to push for a starting spot. Will he shine? Yes he will.
We are excited and we cannot wait to see the next generation of AFC Bournemouth grow into a team that will take us to the next level.
