AFC BOURNEMOUTH 1 CHESTERFIELD 2: Poor Cherries performance brings first home defeat

By -

A TALE OF TWO HALVES | The Cherries finally lost at home as Danny Hollands 75th minute strike wasn’t enough to rescue the Cherries a point after an abysmal first half performance from the home side.

Danny Hollands pulls one back for the Cherries

The Cherries started the match poorly and didn’t get any better for the entire half. There was little to shout about for the home fans as Chesterfield deservedly took the lead after Jalal couldn’t hold a free-kick and Fletcher’s clearance rebounded straight into the Net. With the first half coming to a close it looked like the Cherries had miracously managed to keep the deficit down to a single goal. However, a superb threaded ball found its way to Chesterfield striker Drew Talbot who slotted home first time.

HALF TIME 0-2.

The second half proved to be a complete contrast to the first, thanks to a change of personnel, formation and a few wise words from Eddie Howe. Off went loanee Edgar, who was very poor in the first half, and on came Bradbury, releasing Robinson back into midfield.

The Cherries pushed forward but the visitors defence somehow managed to kick numerous chances off the line. Fletcher hit the crossbar and his saved shot finally made its way out to Danny Hollands who side-footed home to reduce the deficit. The final fifteen minutes saw the Cherries lay seige to the visitors goal, but the home side couldn’t find a way through and finally succumbed to their first home defeat of the season.
