CHERRIES GET BACK ON TRACK WITH VITAL AWAY VICTORY | Steve Fletcher and Anton Robinson put away their third and second goals of the season to seal the Cherries first win in 2010.
A quiet opening from both sides saw few real chances fall to either side until just after the 20 minute mark. Lee Bradbury saw his close range effort kicked off the line and out for a corner. A short corner made its way to Pitman who picked out Fletcher to nod home the opening goal of the game in the 22nd minute. With half-time approaching Jalal pulled off a spectacular close range save from Alex stiker Zola to preserve the visitors advantage.
HALF TIME 1-0
The second half saw the home side speed up a gear and only great defending from new boy Wiggins kept the Cherries in front early on. Moments later Crewe conjured up another chance but still couldn’t manage to even up the score. A poor tackle on loanee Wiggins resulted in a yellow card for Schumacher. The resultant free-kick saw the Cherries double their lead with the ball falling to Robinson who put into an empty net after the Alex keeper could only parry a shot. Minutes later the hosts were back in the game with a neat volley from just outside the area that nestled in the bottom corner. Pitman could have restored the visitors two-goal cushion within minutes but shot into the side netting. A heavy tackle on Bartley saw the midfielder replaced by Josh McQuoid. With the game coming to a close Crewe brought on another striker, but it was Pitman who had two good chances in quick succesion. Five minutes of injury time saw a nervey finale but the Cherries held out for all three points.
