CHERRIES DRAW A BLANK AGAINST TITLE RIVALS

League leaders AFC Bournemouth and close rivals Dagenham & Redbridge cancel each other out in a hard fought goalless stalemate.

The Cherries were looking to extend their lead at the top of the table but blustery conditions and tough opposition looked to make life difficult. The home side had the first chance of the game but an Igoe cross was sent spinning wide by Feeney. The visitors were looking sharp and created a couple of decent chances in quick succession. However, the first half failed to spark into life with both teams working hard to cancel each other out.

HALF TIME 0-0.

The second half promised to offer more and it wasn’t long before the visitors looked to have found a way through a resolute Cherries defence. After rounding the keeper it took a brilliant last ditch tackle from our man of the match, Robinson, to clear the danger. At the other end the Cherries were showing brief glimpses of thier table-topping form. Igoe got himself into a great position only to see a cross cut out and Pitman had a decent shot deflected. Soon after it looked like the visitors were set to score but after the melee cleared Jalal was lying on the floor with the ball firmly in his grasp. Midway through the half Connell made way for ‘Supa’ to make his 700th appearance. With the game heading into the last 15 minutes Pearce made a last ditch tackle as both sides went looking for victory. McQuiod came on for a tired looking Feeney with ten minutes to go, creating a chance for Pitman. Garry nearly stole all the points right at the end but his shot went wide.
