AFC BOURNEMOUTH 3 LINCOLN 1: Cherries hit top spot with Sammy Igoe double

IGOE DOUBLE SEND CHERRIES TOP | A Pitman strike and Igoe double saw the Cherries finally hit top spot. Steve Fletcher and Brett Pitman combined to open the scoring in the seventh minute. 

The visitors were quick out of the blocks trying to knock the Cherries out of there stride. However, it didn’t take long for Supa Fletch out jump the visitor’s defence and nod on to Brett Pitman who volleyed home superbly from around 10 yards. The Cherries continued to create chances as they took control of the game.

In the 20th minutes Igoe was perfectly placed to receive a long Feeney throw and volley into the bottom corner to double the home side’s lead. Six minutes later poor defending and a great finish allowed the visitors reduce the decifit. Lincoln took heart from the goal and produced there best spell of the game.

HALF TIME 2-1.

Lincoln looked to get back into the game with the Cherries struggling to keep control. Eddie Howe decided to make his first change replacing the ineffective Molesley with Bartley. The Cherries started to regain the upper hand with Bartley and Feeney combining to provide Igoe in acres of space who struck home a superb volley. The Cherries continued to dominate and push forward but Lincoln still created a few chances and strike the crossbar. Hollands came on for Igoe to nearly add another late on.

MAN OF THE MATCH: Sammy Igoe | The diminutive midfielder was full of running from first to last. His second-half strike alone was good enough to win man of the match. Superb.
