The Cherries started brightly but were evenly matched by promotion hopefuls Bradford. However, it only took four minutes for Cherries legend Fletcher to slot home left-footed from 15 yards.
Bradford pressed forward, getting a dubious free-kick which led to the Bantams equaliser on 25 minutes. Five minutes later it looked like Pitman had given the Cherries the lead, scoring directly from a corner, again, but the ref disallowed it.
But the home crowd didn’t have to wait long as Steve ‘Supa’ Fletcher raced onto a pinpoint Molesley pass to slot under the keeper for number two. To compound the visitors misery Fletcher set up Goulding for number three a minute later.
The second half saw the Cherries start with renewed purpose and six minutes in it was that man Fletcher again, whose flick on saw Goulding race clear and stick number four in the back of the net. With half an hour to go the Cherries eased up a little but the visitors couldn’t find a way through a solid defence.
Man of the Match Steve Fletcher sustained a head injury, being replaced by Bartley. As the Cherries saw out the game Guyett replaced Molesley in the 74 th minute and six minutes later super speedy Feeney came on for two goal hero Jeff Goulding.
