MATCHDAY: AFC Bournemouth to win again. Not according to the ‘experts’

By -

AFC Bournemouth v Manchester United. A fixture down the years that has produced upsets and galore for the small team.

But, history means nothing when it comes to the next game. Last season we beat Man United at Dean Court, they beat us at Old Trafford. This will have no bearing whatsoever on today’s result. We have new players, we have long-established players, they have new players, they have long-established players, we have the same manager, they have a new manager, we have spent a few quid, they have spent shitloads.

Paul Pogba £89m blah, blah, blah. He’s not playing, he’s suspended, shame I would have liked to have seen him up against Harry Arter

We won’t be buying our way to the title (well not this season anyway), but it’s Manchester United’s buys that have been hogging the headlines. Paul Pogba £89m blah, blah, blah. He’s not playing, he’s suspended, shame I would have liked to have seen him up against Harry Arter. Jose Mourinho has already been playing his pathetic schoolboy mind games (not with Howe so much). But, any good manager will ignore them and concentrate on the game in hand. Plus, Bournemouth have nothing to lose. If we lose, it’s expected, if we win it’s an upset. Let’s hope for a supposed upset.

THE EXPERT’S PREDICTIONS?

THE TELEGRAPH
Bournemouth only won five games at home last year: the joint-second lowest in the Premier League. With Manchester United fresh off the back of victory over Premier League champions Leicester and buoyed by the arrivals of Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic et al, Jose Mourinho should start life as United manager with a close but comfortable victory.
BOURNEMOUTH 0-1 MAN UTD

TFTSE FAVOURITE – PAUL MERSON
I worry for Bournemouth this season. They are a good footballing team but opponents got used to facing them, they didn’t finish the last campaign well, and they have lost Matt Ritchie too. I think Man Utd will win this game quite comfortably. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is such a presence, he’s full of confidence, and I just don’t see how Bournemouth will cope.
BOURNEMOUTH 0-3 MAN UTD

WHOSCORED.COM
Jose Mourinho has never lost on the opening day of the season and he will be looking to continue that record with his new club. United have a patchy record against Bournemouth but they should have enough to overcome the Cherries on the opening weekend and get their season off on the right note.
BOURNEMOUTH 0-1 MAN UTD

MAN U, MAN U WHAT’S THE SCORE?

We know what the experts think, but what do the fans think? This will probably be read mainly by AFC Bournemouth fans, so we are expecting a bias towards a Bournemouth win. It could happen. We are going for a 2-2 draw

WHO’S GOING TO SCORE FIRST? MAKE/LOSE SOME MONEY

The bookies always have a favourite. Against Man United it will Ibrahamovic, Rooney etc.The Bournemouth players will get a mention further down the list. You won’t get good odds on a striker and against Man Utd we reckon it will be a corner where we get some joy. So who are we going for? Steve Cook, he’s a good bet at 40/1.
