RICHARD HUGHES | Bournemouth 1-0
Richard Hughes scored his fourth goal in ten years, apparently. He lined up his shot from 25 yards out and placed it perfectly into the top left hand corner

OUR VIEW ON THE LATEST GAME

Finally, the first win and three points of the season. Groves changed the squad again and finally seems to have found, or is that stumbled upon, a combination that works. A clean sheet and a goal from the veteran Richard Hughes. The main complaint is the poor finishing. Its all well and good creating a hatful of chances, but they need to be put into the back of the net.

“If Thomas is not hitting the back of the net, then the obvious alternative is Matt Tubbs”

Wes Thomas was once again guilty of wasting a couple of glorious chances, which again raises the question of Matt Tubbs, as Cherries twitterati Mike_afcB pointed out ‘Did Matt Tubbs kill Groves’ cat? Shag his daughter? What? Can’t be a genuine football argument to keep picking Thomas ahead of him.’ Surely, if Thomas is not hitting the back of the net, then the obvious alternative is Matt Tubbs. He must be really pleased he signed for the Cherries. Every time he comes back its never seems to work out for him. It’s simple give Tubbs a chance, if he doesn’t deliver than he can be farmed out to Crawley, Rotherham or anyone else, not in League One, who wants him.

The win has diverted attention away from the Groves Out campaign. But, in reality he still hasn’t got it right, but he has so many good players it is hard to fail. We are looking forward to the next 5/10 games and see how well the team performs. Surely, 6 or 7 wins out of the next 10 games is a must if the Cherries are looking for a realistic chance of getting promotion. There is no doubt the team are heading in the right direction and if things keep improving at the same rate we could be in for another memorable season.

1 down, could be a good few more if Cherries strikers had more confidence and a bit more luck. #ytfc #afcb

So… We’re actually almost sounding like a football team and the players sound like they’ve met before? Is this right? #afcb

Full-time: #ytfc 0 #afcb 1. Just about the most dominant 1-0 victory I have ever seen. Impressive, apart from the finishing.
